Gateway to Arabic Book Two builds on the reading and writing skills acquired in Book One of the series. With a vocabulary of over 350 words and the support of 250 illustrations, Book Two enables learners to take their first steps in reading, writing and understanding non-verbal Modern Standard Arabic sentences. Areas of grammar covered include: the gender of nouns and the agreement of adjectives; the use of the definite article; the use of singular personal and attached pronouns; asking and answering simple questions; key prepositions and conjunctions; the dual forms of nouns and adjectives; sound and broken plural nouns and adjectives; the demonstrative pronouns; as well as the cardinal numbers from one to ten with their governing rules. Areas of vocabulary covered include items in the home and classroom; animals; shapes; colours; fruit; vegetables; transport; parts of the body; items of clothing; family members; occupations; and nationalities. The book is supported through a YouTube series entitled ‘Gateway to Arabic Book Two’ delivered by the author to help the student to learn good pronunciation and develop fluency in reading and speaking.
By the end of the book, the learner should be able to read, write and understand simple vowelized non-verbal sentences in Modern Standard Arabic.
